air quality testing

At Safe Home Management, we’re always looking for new ways to protect your home and enhance your peace of mind. Starting in January 2025, we’re excited to introduce

free air quality testing for all our weekly Home Watch members. This new service detects potential air quality issues early, ensuring your home remains safe and healthy, even when unoccupied.

Why Air Quality Testing Matters

Mold growing in the attic

Indoor air quality plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy living space. Poor air quality can lead to respiratory issues, allergic reactions, and even long-term health problems. For homeowners, especially those with seasonal or secondary residences, monitoring air quality can reveal hidden issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Even in homes that aren’t occupied regularly, air quality is an important indicator of potential problems, such as:

  • Clogged AC Filters: Reduced airflow and increased dust or allergens.

  • Gas Leaks: A dangerous issue that requires immediate attention.

  • Remodeling Chemicals: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other chemicals used during renovations can linger in the air, affecting your health.

  • Mold Growth: At times, our inspectors may not detect mold growing in the attic or inside AC vents, which can eventually spread through your ceiling or walls.

What’s Included in Our Air Quality Testing

Our air quality testing is comprehensive, providing real-time data on a variety of important metrics. Each test will be conducted in the central common area of your home for maximum accuracy and coverage.

Here’s what we’ll be measuring:

  1. PM2.5 (Fine Particulate Matter)

    • Tiny particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and bloodstream, causing respiratory and cardiovascular issues.

  2. PM10 (Coarse Particulate Matter)

    • Larger airborne particles can irritate the eyes, nose, and throat.

  3. Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs)

    • Gases emitted from household products, furniture, and building materials can impact indoor air quality and health.

  4. Particles

    • A general measurement of the number of airborne particles in your home, which can indicate dust, allergens, or pollutants.

  5. HCHO (Formaldehyde)

    • A volatile organic compound often found in building materials and furniture. Prolonged exposure can lead to respiratory issues and other health concerns.

  6. Humidity Levels

    • Proper humidity levels (between 30% and 50%) help prevent mold growth and maintain a comfortable indoor environment.

  7. Temperature

    • Monitoring indoor temperature ensures your HVAC system is functioning correctly and maintaining a comfortable environment.

How the Testing Works

inspection testing

  • Our dedicated team of professionals will conduct comprehensive air quality tests during your weekly Home Watch visits, which are scheduled to commence in January 2025. This initiative is part of our commitment to ensuring that your living environment remains healthy and safe, providing you with peace of mind while you are away.

  • The tests will be meticulously performed in a central common area of your home, such as the living room or another frequently used space, to ensure that we obtain accurate and consistent results. This strategic choice of location allows us to assess the air quality that you and your family are most likely to experience daily, making our findings relevant and actionable.

  • Upon completion of the air quality tests, you’ll receive a detailed report of the findings. This report will not only include the specific measurements and levels of various air pollutants detected but will also provide you with any recommendations if air quality issues are detected. Our goal is to equip you with the necessary information to make informed decisions regarding your home's air quality, ensuring a healthier living space for you and your loved ones.
